We can all live without seeing your luscious lips for a few months. So, wear a mask, have some fun, and tell your friends. 

#ComeProtected was created by a group of people and artists (and artists who are people) in Charleston, SC. The goal is to have some fun but also to raise awareness of the need for guys, in particular, to wear masks to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.

There are all kinds of reasons to wear a mask and stop the spread. We aren’t going to show you a scary chart or graph. We’re not even going to show you a video with Dr. Fauci. Just know that we care about you; we love you, man; and we don’t want your cooties. So seriously. Wear a mask. 

The spots take a humorous approach to a serious problem.  COVID-19 continues to spread nationwide, and both Charleston and South Carolina are seeing increases in cases that are above national averages.  Men, in particular, can help slow the spread by wearing face masks.  Data shows that men are less likely to wear a mask than women, even though they are at a higher risk of death due to the virus than women (source). 

The #ComeProtected campaign uses humor to increase awareness and to combat the stereotype that some men have that “masks aren’t cool.” The project was funded by Charleston-based donors and created by a team of the city’s filmmakers, most of whom donated their time and talent.
